What God Did at Generation Now (Photos + Recap)

It’s been a week, and I am still amazed at what happened.

No — really.

This space is for sharing some of the moments we experienced together and extending gratitude to everyone who participated, served, and supported this work. Whether you were in the room or cheering us on from afar, thank you. What took place was meaningful, Spirit-led, and deeply encouraging.

Below are just a few glimpses into the weekend.

The Numbers

We prayed. God answered. And then some.

33 — We were praying for 25–50 participants. We welcomed 33.

19 — We prayed for volunteers. We received 19 who showed up ready to serve with joy and excellence.

1 — One student walked in from outside, asked what was happening, heard about the conference, and registered on the spot. I couldn’t make this up if I tried.

66 — Plans were created by students to actively use their spiritual gifts.

16 — Workshops were led to help equip young leaders and the adults walking alongside them.

The Service

We overbought sandwiches.

And that turned out to be a gift.

Volunteers called local shelters and found one that could receive the extras. Provision became opportunity — and we were reminded that God provides in ways that bless beyond our immediate plans.

In another sacred moment, Brittine Harper, a workshop leader, shared from her own grief after losing her young daughter. She shared her community work and a scholarship opportunity that honors her daughter's contribution to ministry, faith, sportsmanship, and service. What emerged was a powerful training on ministering to young people as spiritual leaders within the home. We wept together. We learned together. We held space for one another in Jesus’ name.

Immediate Fruit

Transformation didn’t wait.

One student shared:

“I’m going to join the sacraments team at church. I have mercy gifts.”

That same student later prayed over a parent participant. He wasn’t the only one stepping forward in confidence and faith.

We were also able to care intentionally for our volunteers. Personalized digital devotionals were created for each of them — including those serving behind the scenes all day. The insights and prayer moments were a blessing to give and receive.

And yes — my skincare may be doing it's job — but the glow on my face afterward had far more to do with what God was doing in that room.

The Power

The culmination of the conference was a commissioning.

Adults prayed over students.

Then the students turned and prayed over the adults.

Eyes closed tightly.

Hands lifted.

Voices responding — “Yes, God.”

It was powerful not because of volume or emotion alone — but because faith was exercised and shared. Even one heart believing God was moving would have made it worthwhile. We saw many.

Why This Matters

The goal of Generation Now was simple and focused:

  • Every student would leave with a plan to use their gifts

  • Adults would gain tools to recognize and disciple young spiritual leaders

  • The Church would take another step toward seeing students as active Kingdom participants today

That vision was lived out in tangible ways.

And for the record — students also went home with bags full of candy and Takis. Balance is important.
